DALLAS

Posted Nov. 3, 2013 - J.R. Laid to Rest Next February in 'The Complete 2nd Season'

4-DVD set of the new show will be out in stores on the Feb. 11, 2014.

J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman), one of the most iconic television villains of all time, takes his last breath under very suspicious circumstances ... but not before stirring up a season's worth of Texas-size trouble! J.R. deviously guides his son, John Ross (Josh Henderson), in stealing the family business from Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe) and Bobby (Patrick Duffy), while the ladies take their own sides.

Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) runs for governor, Ann (Brenda Strong) takes aim at her ex, Harris (Mitch Pileggi), and Pamela (Julie Gonzalo) and Elena (Jordana Brewster) prove that being beautiful and fighting dirty sometimes go hand in hand. Plus, Elena's brother, Drew (Kuno Becker), and Ann's long-lost daughter, Emma (Emma Bell), add their own agendas to life at Southfork.

It's a season of must-see drama and even though J.R. and his Stetson are laid to rest, he's still calling the shots, bequeathing a legacy he calls his "masterpiece," which leaves the normally unshakable Ewing family in shock.
The 2012 comeback series is coming back to DVD in the second month of the new year, as Warner Home Video schedules Dallas - The Complete 2nd Season to arrive in stores on February 11th. Priced at $39.98 SRP, this 4-disc set will come with 15 episodes and a nice list of bonus material that mainly (and quite rightly!) focuses on the late Larry Hagman:

- Memories of Larry Hagman: A Cast and Crew Tribute: An intimate look at how Larry Hagman impacted the lives of his cast and crew as they share their favorite and personal memories of the man who made J.R., and Dallas, famous around the world.
- The Battle for Ewing Energies: Blood is Thicker Than Oil : Explore how the death of J.R. - the head of the family, and the heart of Dallas - rippled through every character and storyline of Season Two.
- Dallas Fashion Files
- J.R.'s Masterpiece: Extended Cut Episode: Extended cut of the pivotal J.R. funeral episode, as the show buries one of TV's most memorable characters.
- Dallas at Paley Fest 2013: Cast and creative team panel at Paley Fest 2013
- One Last Conversation with Larry Hagman: In this unedited interview with Larry Hagman, he discusses the launch of the new Dallas Deleted Scenes

Posted June 21, 2013 - TNT Taps Third Season of Hit Drama Series Dallas

TNT has renewed the hit drama series Dallas for a third season. Produced by Warner Horizon Television, Dallas centers on the Ewing clan, an enormously wealthy Texas family whose sibling rivalries, romantic betrayals, corruption and even murder are truly legendary. TNT has ordered 15 episodes for the third season, which is slated to launch in early 2014.

"Dallas has built a passionately loyal following with its expertly woven storylines, clever twists and turns, and numerous outstanding performances by a cast that spans generations," said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). "Although we said goodbye to Larry Hagman and his iconic character J.R. Ewing this year, Dallas has many more stories left to tell, and the Ewing clan will continue to honor J.R.'s memory by keeping its audience surprised and delighted."

TNT's Dallas stars Patrick Duffy as Bobby Ewing, who is now the senior member of the Ewing family following the death of his older brother, J.R. Ewing. Linda Gray stars as Sue Ellen Ewing, J.R.'s former wife and the mother of his son, John Ross, played by Josh Henderson. Jesse Metcalfe is Christopher, Bobby’s adopted son, and Jordana Brewster is Elena Ramos, who grew up in the Ewing household and is now fighting for her own family's legacy. Julie Gonzalo is Pamela Rebecca Barnes, Christopher's ex-wife and the daughter of Cliff Barnes (Ken Kercheval), a longtime rival of the Ewings. Brenda Strong stars as Bobby’s wife, Ann, while Mitch Pileggi stars as Harris Ryland, Ann’s scheming ex-husband. The ensemble cast also includes Emma Bell as Emma Brown, a sheltered beauty whose father has taught her to distrust the world around her, and Kuno Becker as Drew Ramos, Elena’s troubled brother who has recently returned to Southfork.
Dallas launched on TNT last summer and ranked as basic cable's #1 new drama of 2012 with key adult demos. In its second season, Dallas has averaged 3.8 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery, with 1.6 million adults 25-54 and 1.4 million adults 18-49.
Created by David Jacobs and shot on location in the title city, Dallas is executive-produced by Cynthia Cidre, Michael M. Robin and Robert Rovner.

Posted March 26, 2012 - New Dallas Billboard Steams Up Time Square

Right now, technicians are fine-tuning the plumbing behind the new, enormous DALLAS Billboard at the northern end of Times Square (723 Seventh Avenue at 48th Street). Depicting a sturdy male form showering in his cowboy hat, the billboard enigmatically proclaims, "They're Back." If you look closely at the photograph at right, beneath the sign, you can see the legs of the workers along with their cherry-picker.

By referencing the cliffhanger in 1986 when we caught Bobby Ewing showering (and very much alive), the billboard underlines the TNT series' connection to the iconic primetime soap opera while reminding us what a phenomenon the original DALLAS was. Although some viewers may have felt slightly cheated when we discovered that season eight was merely Pam's dream, the "Bobby is Alive!" reveal was undeniably a very hot topic around office water coolers the world over.

But wait, there's more: just in case decades of TV history and a 40-foot image of a showering Texan aren't enough to create a stir in Times Square, the display also incorporates a fairly large-scale steam effect that brings to mind some of the most talked-about billboards in the history of The Square.

For 26 years, a Camel cigarettes sign emitted "smoke" rings made of steam over the squre between 43rd and 44th street, and in the 80s and 90s an enormous Nissan Cup O' Soup warmed the New Year's Eve countdown ball from the side of the New York Times Building. The DALLAS steam effect may be the largest. When completed, it will wrap around the building, enveloping both sides of the billboard.

SOME FUN FACTS
- This phase of DALLAS campaign is estimated to have cost about $300,000.
- On April 2, the "shower curtain" will part to reveal the cast of the new version of “Dallas,” clad in towels.
- During phase two, the new billboards will display the punchline: “They’re back. And no, you’re not dreaming.”
